As your councilmember, I will be accessible and proactive in engaging the community to increase residents’ awareness and understanding of city issues. I promise to seek community input, work hard and make sound decisions on behalf of all of our residents.

Preserve and protect hillsides, open space and parks. I am against sprawl, especially homes with a large footprint that encroach on our open spaces and hillsides. I will not take campaign contributions from developers.

Reduce traffic congestion. I support a strong regional transportation plan that moves people efficiently to and from major work centers and reduces the number of vehicles on our roadways. One way to reduce traffic congestion is to use smart city planning and technology to collect traffic data and plan accordingly.

Increase affordable housing. In the General Plan update we must update the housing plan to provide for more affordable homes for our workforce such as teachers and firefighters, so they can live where they work.

Support local small business. COVID-19 has devastated our small businesses. We must loosen regulations so our local small businesses can quickly adapt to changing health regulations. I support grants and other assistance to help our small businesses survive the pandemic.

Enhance services for seniors and the disabled. We should partner with local non-profits to access grant money to provide a social services element to our senior citizen’s center. I support formation of a Senior Citizens Advisory Committee and Persons with Disabilities Advisory Committee to ensure San Marcos is meeting the needs of our vulnerable community members.

San Marcos is blessed with safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, and beautiful parks, trails and ridgelines. We need to keep it this way!
